I have lately begun reading a new blog called Arab gay! Yes I am Christian Arab gay written by Samelove a guy who lives in Israel.

He writes in his profile:

As a gay man living in Australia I cannot even get to see the difficulties of being a gay man in Israel, let alone being an Arab living in Israel. But Samelove is a gay Arab living in a Jewish state, but even beyond that he is a Christian gay Arab man living in a Jewish state!

Reading his blog, a wide collection of published writings including book reviews and magazine articles on the difficulties gay men have in so many parts of the world, I am able to get to see the problems he faces. How lucky we are in Australia where things are first to better and the major push is for identification of gay relationships and commitment (I don’t wish the term marriage). Yes, here we yet have much homophobia and gay bashings are rarely reported but do come on a casual basis. The leading protagonists/homophobes in this area are the Christian Church. Jesus said, “Love your neighbour”, but only make certain your neighbour isn’t the same sex as you!

Samelove has other problems that you can say about in his blog, so please do see and understand what he has written or has included from world-wide sources. I am proud to say I am glad to be a supporter of his.

Get Real is a tenderly romantic coming-of-age story as two boys in a British school fall in love.Could a more realistic presentation of what it is alike to be young exist than this film? Don’t believe so. A lot of talk centers around how hard growing up is for teenagers. Yet seldom is it mentioned that however difficult it is for straight kids to rise up, it is a trillion times harder for gay kids, who take no one to go to for help – not friends, not teachers, not parents, not the church, not books, not counselors, not ANYONE. This picture shows what it is like. And it further shows the horrid situation that a young gay athlete finds himself in, torn between being able to do what he enjoys (sports) and being able to be himself. When you’re gay, you can’t take both, thanks to the homophobia which still rules athletics with an iron fist.The two chief characters of this film struggle to keep a relationship, because they are in love – yet ultimately the homophobic attitudes of the public force them to part. Tragic, yet it is a story that plays itself out in every small town on the globe. In spite of this, it is a tale never before told on film. It’s almost time.
