As a gay man living in Australia I cannot even get to see the difficulties of being a gay man in Israel, let alone being an Arab living in Israel. But Samelove is a gay Arab living in a Jewish state, but even beyond that he is a Christian gay Arab man living in a Jewish state!

Reading his blog, a wide collection of published writings including book reviews and magazine articles on the difficulties gay men have in so many parts of the world, I am able to get to see the problems he faces. How lucky we are in Australia where things are first to better and the major push is for identification of gay relationships and commitment (I don’t wish the term marriage). Yes, here we yet have much homophobia and gay bashings are rarely reported but do come on a casual basis. The leading protagonists/homophobes in this area are the Christian Church. Jesus said, “Love your neighbour”, but only make certain your neighbour isn’t the same sex as you!
